What’s up? Glad you found my blog, and hopefully you’ve enjoyed your visit. MMA Smash Up is a personal blog I’ve started as a side project. Since I’m interested in MMA, I thought it’d be a good idea to aggregate much of the vital MMA news, videos, and information into one place for other fans. In the process, I’ll also strengthen my knowledge of the industry and fighters. The site is pretty new as you can probably tell, but I have great aspirations for it and plan to keep it as up-to-date as possible.
Now a little about me…
My name is Carlos, as you might have already noticed on the main page. I’m a 23 year old recent college graduate residing in New Jersey. My alma mater is Rutgers University, graduating with a degree in Political Science and minor in Criminal Justice. You might wonder how someone like me becomes interested in MMA. Aside from my academic life, I’ve been heavily involved in sports. One of those sports was martial arts. From the age of eight I’ve been studying and practicing in the discipline of Michi Budo Ryu (Best of the Street Warriors), which is a mixed style of Judo, Jujitsu, Karate, ground, and self defense techniques (chartered in 1992). I’ve received a black belt in the discipline from Kearny Martial Arts, a martial arts studio founded and created by Grandmaster Vincent Marchetti in Kearny, NJ. After graduating high school, I was forced to part ways from practicing martial arts; but now, after graduating college, I have full intentions to get back in shape and return to continue training.
